Three mistakes that cost English Language marks every year

Using metalanguage loosely. Calling a morphological process a syntactic one is a straight mark off, however good the point.
Feature-listing in an analytical commentary. Every feature identified has to be tied to social purpose, register or context.
Writing an essay with no contemporary Australian examples — the criteria explicitly ask for them and stock examples from ten years ago read as such.
