How to improve

Where the marks usually go: A representation analysed inside one text stops at description of technique. Placing it against genre convention or social stereotype is the analytical step.

Three mistakes that cost Media marks every year

Identifying a code without its meaning. A low-angle shot is not an analysis until you say what it does to the viewer’s relationship with the subject.
Discussing representation without comparison. What is absent or how else it could have been framed is where the analysis lives.
Treating audiences as passive recipients when the course explicitly teaches reception theory.
